Gorin's Piano Studio: From Children to Adults. From Beginners to Professionals

I'm Emanuela, I live in Italy and I'm a mum of 2 children of 3 and 6.
I've seen all your amazing videos.
My children study piano (the older guitar also) but I think your method is far more working than everything else.
Did you ever thought to spread it all over the world, by creating a franchising and/or teaching your method to the teachers by videoconference?
It would be faboulous, learning the "Irina method" all over the world!!!
I am also volunteer in my music school and would like to know if we have the chance to learn more on your method, purchasing your books and so on.
Please spread your knowledge, the world will be better and many children will enjoy piano.

Thank you for posting piano teaching on You Tube! I am a Norwegian piano teacher and I have always been fascinated by the Russian piano school. I would love if you could post some more of your piano lessons. How do you teach phrasing, legato singing on the instrument, weight playing etc?

After wathing your students performing on Youtube, I have become your subscriber & fan. I am so amazed how all your students play so good in terms of sound, emotion, technique and so on. I am a teacher myself in Los Angeles area and I wish that I had a teacher like you.

If you don't mind, I would like to ask you how such a young age students(5 to 8yr) can play so well? For example I recently watched Berkovich. Piano Concerto (2nd mvmt) by Kaitlyn Y. (6 y.o.) and Kailah Y. (8 y.o.).
I was shocked that 2 little girls could make such nice sound. None of my students in that age group can play like that yet.
If I live near you I almost wanted to visit you and get some pedagogy lessons. Do you provide pedagogy lessons to piano teacher also?
Please give me some advise so that I can teach better.

As you might remember, I have been following your students and some ( too short ) excerpts where you are teaching, for quite some time. My opinion is that you are a fantastic Professor! I have rarely seen one of your students that left me indifferent.
I was most impressed with young Emily whose musicality is really interesting. Besides, her arms movements are very elegant and remind me of Aimi Kobayashi when she was her age. You generaly can tell if a student is going to be good just by the way he sits at the keyboard and the position of the hands. What you give them is so precious and also so rare.

I At least once a week I watch your students on You Tube. There are a few of them I do really enjoy watching, specially little Emily playing the Cavalry gallop.

And today I discovered more videos and you teaching staccato touch to a student. That was wonderful. I hope you will have many more of these to come--- teaching videos. In-fact before seeing that I was going to ask you what technique or teaching methods you do to achieve such FAST , LIQUID fingers from your young students? If you don't mind sharing with me the secret to it I would really appreciate.

I guess you are getting ready to start yet another year of teaching. I will be starting next week and all excited. I plan to show off your students performing to my students during our monthly group performance classes.

I had to write to you after watching your students perform on You Tube. I accidentally came across a video of one of your young students and was so amazed at the way they performed with so much poise, grace and finesse!! It was so wonderful to watch them and I applaud you.

I am a teacher myself and teach young students and I have one question for you if you don't mind giving me an answer. What is the technique you use as they all seem to have very fast fingers, even the very young ones?

Do you have any workshops in the area? I am from upstate NY and would love to see your students perform in person one day.

I studied piano with Mrs. Gorin for seven years and not only did she teach me how to play the piano, she also equipped me with skills that have helped me in numerous other situations. Her constant encouragement and dedication to teaching makes piano lessons not only educational, but fun and interesting too. She provided so many opportunities for me to challenge myself whether in the form of piano competitions or teaching beginners how to play the piano. I really miss practicing and playing piano now that I'm in college, but the appreciation for music, from Baroque to Contemporary, Mrs. Gorin instilled in me will remain with me forever.

Our whole families including the grandparents in China are in big joy of Emily’s winning an Honorable Mention at a World Piano Competition. At this moment I really want to express our gratefulness to you. It was you who gave Emily such a precious opportunity to play on that prestigious stage. It was you who advanced Emily to perform piano on a totally different level from before. It was you who spent so much extra time on Emily's preparation for this competition.Thank you!

It was such an experience that neither Emily nor I would ever forget. Even though she did not show her best performance, we are all very happy for her to get what she deserved. It is also exciting news that Emily could go to Carnegie Hall to play.

This is a VERY late message -- but I want to congratulate you on Jason's performance last Saturday. Your teaching is stellar, and his performance was outstanding. I cannot remember ever hearing a performance of the Khatchaturian Toccata that moved me so profoundly.

On my ride home -- I remembered that Jason is the student I had heard a few years ago when I judged District C.. Jason has grown up nicely -- and his playing has matured richly -- thanks to your teaching.

Please convey my sincere congratulations to him -- I will look forward to hearing him again at the state competition.

When I entered the World Piano Competition, I was very nervous. I thought I would never win, since it was my first time entering the World Piano Competition. The competition took place in Cincinnati, Ohio on the 4th of July.
When I got on stage, I calmed down, relaxed, and became happy. After my performance, I won an award called “Honorable Mention”. My family was very surprised. My mom called me “Mr. Honorable Mention” because I have won more than three Honorable Mention awards in the past 7 months.
I also get to go to the Carnegie Hall in New York City to perform there. I will go there this September. My family will come too. After that, I will hang out there and I hope we’ll have fun there.
I feel great because I play the piano.

I just wanted to let you know that I am so thankful to have had you as my piano teacher these last 5 years. It is so sad, and yet a necessary part of life to move on. Thinking that today was the last lesson however, made me miss you so much already, and I found myself in tears all the way home. I look forward to continued interaction through teaching, and will also keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I can’t believe four years passed since I started lessons with you! Time sure flies. As I get ready to move on to college, I just want to say thank you so much for all you have invested in my life these past four years. Thank you for the time, energy, and love you have put into teaching me music – giving me instructions and advice, preparing me for recitals and competitions, teaching me how to teach, and helping me grow in my appreciation of music.

I’m looking forward to studying music at Butler and seeing where God will take me over the next four years. But I will miss you very much! You have been more than just a teacher to me – you have also been a wonderful friend. May God bless you!

Our daughter, Carly, has been blessed to be a student of Mrs.Gorin for five years. We have been impressed with Irina's professionalism, concern and calm demeanor. She expects the best from her pupils and encourages them with gentle discipline. Carly is now quite an accomplished pianist-- performing at competitions, accompanying other musicians and even teaching her own beginning student. We are glad Irina has nutured the gift of music in our child.

As a parent, I could not be more pleased or excited that I have two children enrolled in Mrs. Gorin's studio. As I watch both Mrs. Gorin and her student teacher instruct my daughter, it is like watching art in action. I took lessons myself when I was young for seven years, yet through my children's instruction, I'm relearning piano indirectly in a way that is logical and progressive. I'm astounded by Mrs. Gorin's giftedness as a teacher. She is able to assess each student's abilities and varying degrees of determination in order to best teach, challenge and encourage. This is a professional studio of the highest quality, yet my children feel valued and encouraged, even nurtured under the instruction of the teachers. I remain grateful for Mrs. Gorin's studio. Our home is filled with music and eager learners as a result!
