Policy
Fees
- Effective August 1 st 2007, Registration Fee for 1 student is $15.00 per year.
- Registration fee for family is $25.00 per year.
- "Piano Explorer" magazine yearly subscription is $5.00.
- Theory book is $15.00.
Individual Lessons Fee
- Effective August 1 st 2007, lesson fee varies upon the instructor.
- Extra lessons/ rehearsal times are considered as lessons and to be paid at the normal rate.
- Once a year Parent-Teacher conference is considered as the part of the lesson and to be paid at the normal rate.
- Lessons are to be paid monthly, in advance. Late fee $10.00 will apply if not paid at your first lesson of the month.
Theory and Group Lessons Fee
- Theory Group Lessons are required for all students. They are offered once a month.
- Group lessons fee is $12.00 per 55 min.lesson, and is not refundable .
- For students of independent teachers, Group Lessons Fee is paid in advance for the semester (4-5 lessons)
Cancellations and Rescheduling
- Make up lessons are offered to students who cancel their lessons for emergency reasons (due to the illness), or in advance (24 hour notice or scheduled vacation). For other reasons make up lessons are not offered and paid lesson fee is not refundable .
- I reserve the right to dismiss a student if I believe that to be in the best interest of the student and/or studio. A refund of lesson payments will be made for all paid lessons not received in this case only.
Student vacations
- Vacations must be pre-scheduled two (2) weeks in advance. Missed lessons during September-June must be made up; July-August lessons do not require rescheduling.
Credits
- Credit for the lesson will be given on the next month's tuition fee ONLY when the lesson is cancelled by the instructor.
Lessons
- Lessons are by appointment only. Time slots are scheduled prior to the start of each school year.
- It is strongly urged that parents of minor students attend lessons at least once a month. Attending lessons regularly helps with steady improvement of study at home.
- Students must arrive promptly on time for lessons and be picked up promptly at their scheduled time after lessons. I cannot be responsible for students outside the specified period of their lesson. Students are expected to bring all necessary music and materials to the lesson.
- It is strongly urged that visitors NOT to be brought to lessons, as visitors can be a disruption. If visitors must be brought to lessons, they must remain as quiet as possible in the waiting area and not interfere in any way.
- Food and drink are not allowed in the studio at any time .
Equipment
- After six months of study, all students must purchase a metronome. Information regarding the best purchase prices is available in the studio.
- After six months of study, students should have an acoustical piano. Please keep in mind that all recitals, concerts, and auditions are performed on acoustical, not electronic, keyboards.
Concerts and Recitals
- Student recitals are held 2 times per year.
- Recital fee is $5 per student.
- Dress for student recitals is formal concert attire. Suitable attire: sport coat/tie or white shirt /tie for boys. Dresses or tea length skirts - for girls. No shorts, short skirts, jeans or gym shoes are appropriate. Inappropriately dressed students will not be allowed to perform at recitals.
- The last lesson before a recital is a dress-up rehearsal.
